ALBAWABA - Syrian government forces are expanding in the Kurdish area and are gaining control over several cities for the first time in a decade.

Anadolu Agency reported that the Syrian forces are close to controlling Tishrin Dam, southwest of Manbij, amid the withdrawal of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) from the area. Before the Tishrin Dam, a dam on the Euphrates river, the Syrian army took control over a large area in the Raqa after an agreement with the SDF.

Yesterday, Reuters reported, citing government officials and security sources, that Syrian troops are advancing towards Raqqa and Hasakah, northeast Syria, which are the last strongholds of the U.S.-backed autonomous Kurdish-led administration.

Syrian authorities said on Sunday that two main bridges over the Euphrates River were destroyed in Raqa amid clashes between Syrian government forces and Kurdish groups, SANA reported.

Syrian government forces captured Omar field, which is the country's largest oil field after the withdrawal of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that Kurdish-led forces withdrew from Syria's largest oil field, the Omar field.

In addition, social media users said that the Syrian forces also took control over the Koniko gas facility, along with others like al-Tanak and al-Jafra, in eastern Deir ez-Zor province.
