Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad received in Damascus Wednesday the European Envoy for Peace to the Middle East, Michel Angel Moratinos.
During the meeting, talks focused on the general regional situation, as well as existing problems and means to solve them, in order to realize a just and comprehensive peace in the region, the official Syrian Arab news agency reported.
The Syrian President highlighted the importance of the European role in “correcting wrong stands”, SANA said.
Indicating that the problem is in the Israeli stand, President al-Assad restated his country’s position concerning the peace process.
In addition, the Syrian leader expressed his rejection to any military strike against Iraq, which would “spread unrest and confusion and would endanger the interests of Europe and of many other countries”, SANA concluded. (Albawaba.com)
