ALBAWABA - Fear dominated a Turkish Airlines flight after the tyre of the plane caught fire during landing on Monday, local media reported.

A clip was posted on social media showing the Turkish Airlines flight TK726's tyre catching fire upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Nepal. Crew members and airport workers rushed to evacuate all passengers on board.

No injuries or casualties were reported as emergency evacuation procedures were activated immediately, and passengers stepped out of the aircraft through emergency doors.

"The Turkish Airlines TK 726 was en route to Kathmandu from Istanbul, and the tyre had caught fire while landing," SP Rajkumar Silawal from the airport security told ANI. "Using the fire engine, it has been contained. All the passengers are safely evacuated."

Officials said that the aircraft was carrying 278 people along with 11 crew members at the time of the incident.

Some reports allegedly said that some United Nations officials were among those traveling on the flight.
