Two Frenchmen suspected of being members of a group of Osama bin Laden’s al-Qaeda who escaped from Afghanistan to the Islamic Republic of Iran have been deported to France by the Iranian authorities, justice officials said in Paris Monday.
AFP reported that the two unnamed men arrived in Paris Friday on board a flight from Teheran and were taken in for interrogation by police. One was released, however the other is being held pending further investigations into his identity papers, the officials said.
Iranian police told their French counterparts that the men were arrested in December late last year after crossing the border from war-torn Afghanistan and were found to be holding French papers. (Albawaba.com)
