Head of the Palestinian Liberation Organization's [PLO] political department Farouq al-Kaddoumi met with Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi in Kuala Lumpur on Monday.
In the course of the meeting, which was held on the sidelines of a special meeting of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) on terrorism, the two sides conferred on the recent developments in the Palestinian territories.
"Although the Zionist regime continues their crimes, Palestinian people will continue their anti-Israeli resistance in order to regain their legitimate rights," al-Kaddoumi stated. He added that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's policies imposed economic and social pressure on the Israelis as well.
Furthermore, Kaddoumi called for the continuation of Iran's support for the cause of Palestine, which he described as "crucial".
Kharrazi, on his part, said that Israel has escalated violence in the occupied territories due to US support in this regard.
Kharrazi emphasized that Iran attaches great importance to the plight of Palestinians, adding that they should continue their uprising. "Iran will defend and support the Palestinian people along with various other countries," he made clear, according to IRNA.
He expressed hope that the OIC meeting would unite Islamic countries to further support the Palestinian people.
