On Sunday in Tehran, Iran’s President Mohammad Khatami said his country and Bahrain could expand cooperation and relations in various fields based on mutual respect and understanding.
Receiving the credentials of Bahraini Ambassador to Tehran Kamel Saleh al-Saleh, the President expressed his hope that recent developments would serve as a source of blessing for the Bahraini government and people. He added that good ties between the two neighboring states would guarantee regional security.
Furthermore, Khatami added that Tehran's policy was based on the consolidation of relations with all the friendly, neighboring and brotherly countries.
Al-Saleh, on his part, said Bahrain was ready to expand ties with Iran in all areas.
Meanwhile, President Khatami in a meeting with Iran's new Ambassador to Ireland Seyed Hossein Mir-Fakhar called for the expansion of relations between Iran and Ireland in various economic, political and cultural spheres. Mir-Fakhar briefed the president on his upcoming mission. (Albawaba.com)
