Iranian President Mohammad Khatami sent condolences to Britain's Queen Elisabeth II over the death of the Queen Mother, sources said from the president's office.
Khatami's message hailed the Queen Mother for her courage staying in London during World War II in spite of the German air blitz of the capital city.
The 101-year-old Queen Mother died last Saturday at Windsor Castle, west of London.
Iran and Britain's relations warmed in the late 1990s, following Khatami's election as president in 1997, according to AFP. (Albawaba.com)
