The 107th Inter-parliamentary Union (IPU) conference ended in Marrakesh Friday with four resolutions on the issues of environment, globalization, terrorism and Palestine issued.
The first two resolutions dealt with the issues of the environment and globalization. The third resolution issued by the conference entitled “terrorism, a threat against democracy, human rights and civil society”, emphasized the need of parliaments to take part in the international campaign against terrorism, investigate its roots and secure international peace and stability, according to IRNA.
The resolution issued also highlighted the general concern over the increasing linkage between terrorism and planned crimes including drug smuggling. It has been considered a major obstacle blocking the realization of the goals set by nations to achieve development, welfare, peace and security.
The third resolution also pointed out that terrorism should not be attributed to any religion, nationality or civilization. The international community was urged to support international attempts directed towards the campaign against drug smuggling.
The last resolution concerned the enforcement of UN Security Council Resolution 1397, especially its article regarding the establishment of definite borderlines for Israel and Palestine.
The 107th Inter-parliamentary union conference, which was held in Morocco was attended by 120 countries.
Iran's parliamentary delegation attending the conference was due to return to Tehran Saturday through Casablanca, Jeddah and Dubai, according to IRNA. (Albawaba.com)
