A second UAE Red Crescent Society plane carrying relief supplies arrived in Kabul Sunday in the framework of a UAE air bridge aimed at providing aid to the victims of an earthquake which recently hit the northern part of Afghanistan.

The 20-tons of aid was dispatched on the orders of UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS) Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed to rush urgent relief assistance to the quake-affected Afghani people.

The plane was received by head of RCS's relief operations Mohammed Al Hamadi, Chairman of Afghanistan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) and a number of officials from both relief agencies. For his part, Al Hamadi said the relief materials would be distributed to the population in the Nahrin area.

Furthermore, the ARCS chief paid tribute to the UAE for its generous assistance extended to the Afghan people, according to Gulf News.

The earthquake has left thousands of civilians homeless.

The visiting delegation discussed with Chairman of the ARCS Haji Qarabek the arrangements needed to deliver urgent relief assistance and supplies to the victims.
