Egypt’s foreign minister Ahmad Maher emphasized Monday that contacts were currently underway to specify a date for the upcoming meeting of the Arab follow-up committee at the level of foreign ministers.
He told reporters that the Lebanese presidency would make contacts to specify a date for the follow-up committee meeting. The committee includes the following: Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, Morocco, Yemen and the Arab League.
He added that the objective behind the meeting is to review ways of ending the Israeli aggression in the occupied Palestinian territories and the siege imposed by Israeli troops on Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, KUNA reported.
He pointed to the contacts he had made with foreign ministers of Russia, Lebanon, Jordan, the Arab league secretary general and the US ambassador to Cairo. Moreover, he said his country is against the deportation of Palestinians to Egypt and Jordan, saying that Amman has expressed the same stand. (Albawaba.com)
