The State Advisor at the People’s Republic of China is scheduled to arrive in Muscat Friday at the head of an official trade delegation comprised of seventy people, on a four-day visit to the Omani Sultanate, within the context of the strong relations between the two countries.
During the visit, it is expected the sides will review means to enrich bilateral relations in various fields, develop economic cooperation and discuss available investment opportunities in both the countries.
A number of agreements on cooperation in the oil field as well as prevention of double taxation between the two countries will be signed in the course of the visit, according to Oman News Agency (ONA).
A session of official talks between the Omani side led by Maqbool bin Ali Sultan, Minister of Commerce and Industry and the Chinese side headed by the State Advisor will also be held during the visit.
The Chinese delegation is due to hold meetings with high-ranking officials in the Sultanate and visit industrial establishments and religious, historical and tourist sites.
Trade movement between the Omani Sultanate and China increased by 9.97% during 2000 and 2001 as trade volume stood at around RO. 37.1 million in 2000 and RO. 40.8 million in 2001.
Foreign trade statistics showed that Omani imports from China stood at RO. 37.3 million in 2001, constituting a 2.5% increase compared to the previous year, while Omani exports to China rose to RO. 3.5 million in 2001, ONA said. (Albawaba.com)
