Authorities at Rafik Hariri International Airport foiled Thursday an attempt to smuggle 5 kilograms of Captagon tablets to an Arab country, the Internal Security Forces said.

A Syrian man, identified by his initials A.A., was caught carrying the narcotics at the airport, the police statement said.

The 32-year-old, who confessed to the crime, said he had planned to smuggle the pills to an Arab country.

He was referred to the Anti-Drug Division for further investigation.
