Photography fans in Jordan will be exposed to work by “31 Arab Photographers” when their exhibition opens on Tuesday.
Organized by DPclick.com, a website for digital photography competitions, the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) and the Union of Arab Photographers, this year’s event will feature four free workshops for individuals interested in photography, according to GAM Executive Director of Culture Samer Khair Ahmad.
Tarek Hadi, founder of DPclick.com who was behind the idea of the exhibition, said the workshops will teach participants several topics, such as “how to use a camera and how to take astronomy photos”.
Photographers from several Arab countries including Morocco, Algeria, Sudan, Egypt, Lebanon, Iraq, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia are showcasing their work at the event, Hadi told The Jordan Times over the phone Monday.
Nine Jordanian photographers are among the participants.
“A panel selected the best photos... Around 160 photographers submitted their work,” he said, adding that the organizers left it up to the participants to choose their themes.
“Each photographer selected either one photo or three,” he noted.
Kuwaiti photographer Hussein Al Qallaf, who is showcasing several underwater photos, and three Jordanian astronomy photographers, will inaugurate the event, according to Hadi.
The opening ceremony will be held at the Ras Al Ain Gallery at 6pm.
The exhibition, which wraps up next Monday, is open daily from 10am until 9pm.
