Religious leaders and international personnel began distributing more than $25,000 worth of winter clothing to Iraqi children on Monday, December 29, 2003.

The purchase of the garments and footwear was funded by the Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA), and they were procured from a local vendor in the town, in an effort to boost the local economy. The delivery of the materials is being administered by members of a US Army Civil Affairs Brigade, the Samarra Council of Imams and the Iraq Civil Defense Corps, and local schoolteachers.

The distribution includes 400 blankets and 444 coats and jackets. It also includes 300 pairs of sneakers, 525 pairs of shoes and 1,400 pairs of socks. — (menareport.com)
