Dubai Chamber reviews practical and legal aspects of franchising business
Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry in association with law firms Al Tamimi & Company organised a Practical and Legal Aspects of Franchising Workshop which was attended by representatives of the private sector, lawyers and legal professionals, investors, contract specialists, general managers business owners and corporate counsel at its head office recently.
The workshop, conducted by Omar Obeidat, Partner, Marcus Wallman, Partner, and Willem Steenkamp, Senior Associate, Al Tamimi & Company, reviewed and discussed the understanding of franchising agreements and its typical clauses, and provided tips on how to avoid common pitfalls in the legal contracts.
Ms. Jehad Kazim, Director, Legal Services Department, Dubai Chamber, stated that franchising has gone from strength to strength in the UAE and is now one of the country’s dominant models. This workshop, essential for businesses considering entering into a franchise arrangement, covered the key elements of a franchise agreement and tips for franchising in the Middle East.
Ms. Kazim further explained that as the workshop dealt with the key elements of a franchising agreement it helped raise the participants’ awareness of the concept while providing important tips for setting up a franchising business and its continuity in the long run, she said.
She also informed that Dubai Chamber regularly organises training, seminars and workshops to serve the business community in boosting their trade while contributing to the economic growth of Dubai.
