The Omani government has restricted expatriates from pursuing 36 professions in 44 districts across the Sultanate. The move is part of a comprehensive program to nationalize the majority of Oman’s trade sectors.
Vocations to be nationalized include gas station workers, retailers, meat and poultry vendors, waiters and beauticians, reported Gulf News.
Expatriates make up 27 percent of Oman’s total population and are a mix of Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, and non-practicing adherents of these faiths. — (menareport.com)
