SITA has been awarded contracts to upgrade the Common Use Terminal Equipment (CUTE) check-in service and expand the Baggage Reconciliation System (BRS) at the international terminal of Istanbul Atatürk Airport (IST).
The project, valued at $810,000 was awarded by the Tepe-Akfen-VIE (TAV) consortium to manage the modernization of the existing international terminal, which includes the installation of 77 additional check-in desks, five new gates and three new baggage carousels.
SITA's latest CUTE system is Java-based and Internet Protocol (IP) enabled and will optimize resources, as well as facilitate the movement of passengers through the airport. SITA's baggage reconciliation system, BagManager, will resolve existing baggage handling problems, and will help reduce flight delays and lower baggage-handling costs.
SITA's solutions are aimed at helping airports maximize security, combat congestion, improve the utilization of limited resources and promote operating efficiencies, reduce costs and help identify new streams of revenue. Atatürk Airport International Terminal has been planned to serve 14 million passengers and this number is to rise to 20 million in the near future. The project which comprises a terminal building of approximately 189 thousand square meters and a 179 thousand square meter car park with a capacity for 7,076 vehicles, has been materialized on the basis of Design and Build method. — (menareport.com)
