ALBAWABA - The upcoming France vs Morocco game is set to have all five referees from Argentina, sparking backlash from fans especially after Argentina’s controversial win against Egypt yesterday.

The referee appointments for each match are revealed one or two days before the match, this most recent appointment left fans confused as it is unorthodox to have all five referees be from the same nation, especially in a World Cup tournament.

Argentina and France are huge rivals on the international stage since Argentina beat France in the final of the previous version of the tournament in 2022. Now, fans speculate that Argentina is being pushed by FIFA to win the tournament again.

The appointment of an all Argentinian referee crew is shocking on its own, yet in light of Argentina’s polarizing win against Egypt where the match ended 3-2 after Argentina scored three goals in 12 minutes and an early goal was revoked from Egypt. It seems downright controversial.

The referees set to officiate the match are Facundo Tello, who will oversee the game, assisted by Juan Pablo Belatti and Gabriel Chade. Dario Herrera will serve as the fourth official and Cristian Navarro will act as the reserve assistant referee, as confirmed by FIFA.
