ALBAWABA - Spanish football players Fabian Ruiz and Pablo Páez Gavira, known as Gavi, have received an unusual gift after winning the 2026 FIFA World Cup tournament.
The Spanish World Cup champions, who won after playing against Argentina in the final match in New Jersey on Sunday, July 19, got their weight in tomatoes as a gift from the Los Palacios City Council.
The Los Palacios City Council prepared a unique reception for the Spanish footballers, highlighted by one of the province's most distinctive traditions: presenting Gavi and Ruiz with tomatoes matching their body weight.
Additionally, the council noted that during Tuesday's ceremony, a model of a monument would be placed on Juan José Vaquero Avenue as a permanent homage to Jesús Navas, Fabián Ruiz, and Gavi.
