WOODSHOW 2006, the only dedicated wood and wood machinery exhibition in the region, which will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) from April 10-12, 2006, will have a strong regional and international presence, with exhibitors from more than 40 countries showcasing their products at the event.

A highly specialized exhibition, WOODSHOW 2006 provides an excellent platform for regional and international companies to showcase their latest wood machinery and woodworking products to business prospects, and build new strategic relationships with buyers, traders and investors.

“WOODSHOW 2006 offers exhibitors a chance to interact with international and regional experts in the wood industry and develop strategies for increasing the range and quality of their business, while learning new techniques and sources of supply. Exhibitors can sell directly to buyers on-site as well as network with industry professionals to reach buyers in new markets,” said Dawood Al Shezawi, Managing Director of Strategic Marketing & Exhibitions, the organizers of the exhibition.

“The event presents an ideal platform to launch newly developed products and services, explore joint venture partnerships and conclude distribution and agency agreements. In addition, the show will enable industry players to stay updated about the latest technological innovations in the wood industry, helping them leverage the power of technology to drive future growth,” Al Shezawi added.

Among the countries represented at the exhibition are Germany, Australia, the Netherlands, India, China, France, Lebanon, UK, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, South Africa, Spain, Singapore, Pakistan, Korea, Indonesia, Russia, Turkey, Italy, Iran, Canada, Taiwan and the United States.

“For many months now, we have been working on developing this exhibition into a major global event for the wood industry. We have appointed sales agents in several countries to promote the show on a global level, and are extremely encouraged by the response we have received till date,” said Saif Hashmath, Project Manager of Strategic Marketing & Exhibitions.

Exhibitors at WOODSHOW 2006 can meet with professionals from across the wood industry, including engineers and planners, consultants, developers, distributors, contractors, subcontractors, interior designers and furniture manufacturers, among others. The products and innovations to be displayed at the exhibition include MDF, plywood, hardwood, softwood, veneers, timbers, parquet, laminates, finished wood merchandise and paper products. The show will also feature molding machines, woodworking machinery and tools, accessories, components and auxiliary equipment for the worldwide wood and woodworking industry.

“The surge in construction activities across the Middle East has brought about an unprecedented demand for wood-based products. Besides, wood is finding newer areas of application and use in today’s rapidly-changing world. Recent research indicates that the wood market is poised to grow at an even faster pace over the next few years. These factors have combined to necessitate a comprehensive trade show that assembles all players in the wood industry on one platform. WOODSHOW 2006 seeks to meet this requirement by bringing together leading manufacturers, suppliers, contractors and traders, and giving them direct access to decision-makers as well as business prospects,” Hashmath said.

“Being the commercial and business hub of the Middle East, Dubai represents the ideal venue for the exhibition. The city is strategically located, has world-class infrastructure facilities, and more importantly, is one of the biggest markets for wood-based products in the region,” Hashmath added.

Dubai is a major global import and re-export hub for the wood and wood machinery industry. In 2003, wood machinery imports were estimated at a whopping AED 45,355,979, and re-exports at AED 3,827,433. Wood-based and wood-related products imports stood at AED 13,991,414, while re-exports were pegged at AED 1,127,677. Whereas wooden furniture imports were estimated at AED 601,126,737 in 2003, re-exports totaled AED 291,914,632 and exports AED 22,199,854.
