At least 30 Turkish truck drivers who were being held by jihadis in Iraq were released this week, according to Agence France Presse Thursday.
Dogan news agency reported that the drivers who were captured in Iraq last month were released this week, but Turkish Foreign Ministry officials were "not immediately able to confirm the report," according to the AFP article.
However, the wife of one of the drivers told the media that she had spoken to her husband and he confirmed that he, along with the 29 others, had been released.
The recently-freed drivers are now allegedly en route to Irbil in Iraq's Kurdish region, and will reach Turkey in the evening.
Islamic militants have released some 30 Turkish truck drivers who they captured in Iraq last month, a private news reported Thursday.
The drivers were originally seized in the city of Mosul on June 9 by the jihadist Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) who has taken over control of areas in five of Iraq's provinces within the last month.
ISIS also seized 49 individuals from Turkey's consulate in Mosul on June 12, but it is not yet clear if they will be released.
