Saudi Arabia has launched a project to upgrade and modernize its French-supplied anti-aircraft missiles, reported the Middle East News Line (MENL).
Saudi Arabia has awarded the Paris-based Thales Group a $225 million contract to support and upgrade the Shahine anti-aircraft missile systems, said the news service.
France sold the systems to Riyad in 1981, said the news service, adding that the missiles are optically-guided and have a range of up to 11 kilometers.
