ALBAWABA - Earlier on Friday, Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces announced forming a civilian administration in Khartoum state, a move that is expected to stir the already boiling pot in the African country.

Under the name "Civilian Founding Council of Khartoum State", the RSF aims to tighten its grip on the Sudanese capital, despite the series of setbacks with the army recapturing areas in northern Khartoum Bahri, Al-Maqran, and Omdurman, Sudan Tribune reported.

The RSF said that the "Civilian Founding Council" elected Nayel Babiker Nayel as chairman and Abdel Latif Al-Amin Al-Hassan as head of the civilian administration.

The council, which was formed months ago, has 90 members who represent the three areas of Khartoum: women, young, professionals, Sufi orders, and native administration officials, Sudan Tribune added.

Similar RSF actions in other regions under its control, including as Al Jazirah, West Kordofan, and portions of Darfur, are reflected in this move. Al-Hassan urged citizens to demand a stop to the conflict and urged professionals and workers to return to Khartoum and resume their services.

The RSF and the army were urged to "act wisely," halt the war, and resume talks. To accomplish security, basic services, social peace, and the provision of humanitarian help, he stated, "we have sided with the oppressed citizen".

Al-Hassan also made a plea for more humanitarian help, emphasizing the urgent situation in RSF-controlled areas where relief convoys are obstructed and food supplies are in low supply. He denounced the army's aerial barrage of civilians, claiming hundreds had been killed by incendiary weapons and barrel bombs.
