Israel's foreign minister was to meet Wednesday with his Qatari counterpart in Paris, the first such high-level meeting between the two countries since the outbreak of Israeli-Palestinian violence 31 months ago.
According to the Israeli Foreign Ministry, Silvan Shalom met with Qatari Foreign Minister Hamad Al Thani during a Paris stopover on his way to Britain for aseries of talks. The two were to hold a news conference later in the day, the ministry said.
On Monday, Qatar's foreign minister said his country may consider signing a peace treaty with Israel if it suited its interests. (Albawaba.com)
