ALBAWABA - The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned on Tuesday the infiltration of an armed group of Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) members onto Bubiyan Island, intending to carry out hostile acts against Kuwait.
The IRGC members clashed with the country's armed forces before they were caught. The incident resulted in injuries to one member of the Kuwaiti armed forces.
In a statement released via the ministry's X account, it emphasized Kuwait's demand that Iran immediately and unconditionally cease its hostile actions, which threaten the security and stability of the region and undermine regional and international efforts to de-escalate tensions.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirms Kuwait's unwavering commitment to good neighborliness and its rejection of the use of its territory and airspace to launch hostile acts against any country.
It considers the hostile acts perpetrated by Iran a violation of Kuwait's sovereignty, a grave breach of international law and the UN Charter, and a challenge to international will and Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026).
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs holds Iran fully responsible for its hostile acts and affirms Kuwait's inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter.
The statement further mentioned that Kuwait will take all measures it deems appropriate to defend its sovereignty and protect its people and residents, in accordance with international law.
Nonetheless, Saudi Arabia also condemned Iran's attempt to enter Kuwait, saying, "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's strongest condemnation and denunciation of an armed group from elements of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in the Islamic Republic of Iran infiltrating Bubiyan Island in Kuwait with the aim of carrying out hostile acts against the State of Kuwait."
