Saudi King Fahd has given permission for a private human rights committee to be set up, the foreign minister, Prince Saud al-Faisal, told journalists, the Jeddah-based daily Arab News reported Wednesday.
The prince said the committee "will be totally independent, and King Fahd is keen to guarantee its independence".
