The social sector at the UAE Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs is working on an ambitious project to help solve some of the problems senior citizens face. One of the most important aspects of the project, which the ministry is still studying, is to pay visits to the elderly at their homes, REPORTED Gulf News. Details of the project – which is part of plans for the Social Affairs sector at the ministry for 2002 – were released by Mariam Al Roumi, Under-secretary of the ministry for Social Affairs. “The basic idea of the project is for us to intervene and help families take care of their aged members. We will offer health, social and psychological help by paying visits to the elderly who are not confined to homes for the aged. In that way we will ensure that they are not abused and at the same time alleviate a bit of the stress of the other family members," she pointed out. (Albawaba.com)
