ALBAWABA - Over a million Israelis reportedly hurried to bomb shelters as Hezbollah fired rockets toward Haifa and the northern parts of the country, according to Israeli officials.
One of the rockets launched from Lebanon was intercepted, according to Israel's state television, although sirens were triggered over a wide region because of concerns about debris from the intercept. Israel's air defense systems effectively intercepted a heavy ballistic missile that was launched at Haifa, causing sirens to sound, according to Israeli army radio.
According to Israeli police, crews tasked with disposing of explosive ordnance have been stationed at several points in Haifa Bay to deal with missile parts that were intercepted.
This is happening as the Israeli military is still engaged in its largest and most vigorous attack against Lebanon since it first started fighting Hezbollah more than a year ago. Since the attacks intensified on September 23, the Lebanese authorities have recorded 2,312 injuries and around 783 deaths, including those of women and children.
Since Hezbollah has begun attacking civilian settlements and military institutions with rockets and drone attacks, Israel has seen an unprecedented number of siren sounds. Observers claim that stringent limitations have been placed by Israeli military censors on the reporting of deaths and damage.
