Jordan and Oman hope to see the Camp David summit between the Palestinians and Israelis ending with an accord that leads to a comprehensive peace throughout the region, a Jordanian source said Monday.
Jordanian Foreign Minister Abdel Ilah Khatib and Oman's minister in charge of foreign affairs, Yussef bin Alawi, expressed the hope, when they met in Amman on Monday, that the two sides would "reach an agreement guaranteeing the legitimate rights of the peoples involved and arrive at the establishment of a comprehensive and lasting peace in the region," the source said.
Khatib informed Bin Alawi about Jordan's consultations with the relevant parties to "obtain their support for the Palestinian negotiators" at the summit, the source added.
"Our positions are identical on a range of current issues, including the peace process and the Camp David summit," Bin Alawi told reporters after their meeting - AMMAN (AFP)
