Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmad Maher at his headquarters in the West Bank city of Ramallah, AFP reported.
Maher was authorized to meet Arafat, despite Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's policy of isolating the Palestinian leader.
Sharon responded to a personal request by Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak for the Egyptian diplomat to meet Arafat after the Egyptians promised to press Arafat "toward a ceasefire and end terrorism," Israeli radio reported Friday. (Albawaba.com)
