Israel's consumer price index went up only 0.3 percent in June after going up 0.9 percent the month before, due mostly to falling agricultural prices, Israel's central statistics office said Friday.
Inflation in the country is at 0.4 percent for the year after a fall in prices recorded in the first few months of the year.
The finance ministry estimates that inflation for the year will be at three percent.
The weak inflation in June was largely due to a fall in prices for fruits and vegetables, the ministry said.
Unemployment fell 0.3 percent in the first quarter, the statistics office said last month, bringing unemployment down to 8.6 percent for the active population.
The rate of growth in the country is expected to reach four percent for the year, about double the previous year, the Bank of Israel says, up from earlier government estimates - TEL AVIV (AFP)
