Hamas reveals release date of US-Israeli hostage Edan Alexander

ALBAWABA - Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed that Israel expects 'intensification of fighting' despite Hamas' announcement on Sunday night that it will release the last living hostage with US nationality in Gaza, Edan Alexander.

Abu Obeida, the spokesperson of Hamas' military wing, revealed that the Al-Qassam Brigades have decided to release the Israeli soldier who holds American citizenship, Idan Alexander, today, May 12.

Hamas said on Sunday that it agreed with the United States to release Israeli-American hostage Edan Alexander, aiming to reach a ceasefire agreement.

The Palestinian group's announcement was made days before President Donald Trump's scheduled visit to the Middle East. Earlier, A source close to Hamas uncovered that the US-Israeli hostage will be released 'most likely' Monday or Tuesday, AFP reported.

"I am happy to announce that Edan Alexander, an American citizen who has been held hostage since October 2023, is coming home to his family," President Donald J. Trump said regarding the deal.

Today, US Middle East Envoy Steve Witkoff is set to land in Israel, and he will have a meeting with Netanyahu.

US Middle East Envoy will also hold talks with Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer and several other Israeli officials.
