ALBAWABA - Following a ceasefire deal between Hezbollah and Israel, a senior Hamas official informed AFP that the Palestinian group is ready to move forward with a truce in Gaza.

"We have informed mediators in Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey that Hamas is ready for a ceasefire agreement and a serious deal to exchange prisoners," the official stated to AFP.

The official said that despite the group's attempts to strike a deal to put an end to the catastrophe in Gaza, he accused Israel of hindering these efforts.

As reports emerge from Lebanon after the ceasefire went into effect, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei welcomed the ceasefire deal, calling on the International Criminal Court to "criminals of the occupying regime," in reference to the ICC arrest warrant against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.

A truce between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon went into effect on Wednesday, ending more than a year of fighting that killed almost 4,000 people.

The truce, which began at 4:00 a.m. local time, is expected to bring an end to a battle that has displaced hundreds of thousands of people. On Tuesday, US President Joe Biden praised the cease-fire agreement and promised to work with France to enforce it.

Complete Israeli military withdrawal from southern Lebanon and the ability of civilians on both sides to return home are among the terms of the ceasefire.

Additionally, Hezbollah and other armed groups will relocate north of the Litani River, which is roughly 30 kilometers north of the Israeli border, from their strongholds in southern Lebanon.

Israel will refrain from attacking Lebanon by land, air, or sea in exchange. The only organizations permitted to transport weapons into south Lebanon will be the Lebanese army and security forces.
