The Gulf Cooperation Council Countries (GCC) Foreign Ministers’ 82nd meeting begins Monday at the GCC General Secretariat headquarters in Riyadh.
The meeting will take place prior to the upcoming Arab summit in Beirut later this month and will be directed at uniting the positions of the GCC states in support of the Saudi initiative recently floated by the Saudi Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister, Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz.
A Gulf diplomatic source told the Kuwait News Agency on Sunday that the upcoming ministerial meeting is significant, as it will be held amidst crucial international and regional developments that require a unified stand by the gulf states.
The source added that discussions would deal with the Iraqi file, the issue of Kuwaiti POWs and Iraq's refusal to comply with the United Nations’ resolutions.
The agenda of the upcoming meeting in the Saudi capital includes the latest developments in the Palestinian lands and the Israeli violations in addition to maintaining peace and stability throughout the gulf region. (Albawaba.com)
