Gaza Strip: Bird flu detected

The H5N1 strain of bird flu which was detected in Israel last week has spread into the Gaza Strip, a Palestinian agriculture official confirmed on Wednesday. According to Reuters, the official said that the virus was detected in areas close to the Israeli border.

 

The Palestinian Authority on Tuesday declared a state of emergency in a bid to prevent the spread of the virus.

 

It should be recalled that Egypt reported a fourth suspected case of bird flu in humans on Tuesday.
