ALBAWABA-A gunman opened fire on a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Dallas early Wednesday morning, killing one person, wounding several others, and then taking his own life, according to FBI Director Kash Patel.

The attack began just before 7 a.m. local time, with rifle rounds striking the building before security forces contained the threat.

The FBI confirmed no law enforcement officers were injured, though investigators have recovered shell casings engraved with the phrase “ANTI ICE,” pointing to a clear ideological motive. Patel described the incident as “an act of targeted violence,” stressing that federal, state, and local authorities are working together to bring accountability. The FBI, DHS, ATF, and Dallas Police are jointly investigating.

The shooting has drawn national attention and political fallout. Vice President J.D. Vance called for violence against ICE to stop, offering prayers to the victims.

Texas Representative Lance Gooden directly blamed recent anti-ICE rhetoric, citing remarks from Rep. Ilhan Omar and California Governor Gavin Newsom.

This marks the second such attack in Texas in recent months, following an ambush on another ICE facility near Prarieland. Officials warn that these incidents reflect a troubling escalation in politically motivated violence against law enforcement.

The Dallas attack comes against the backdrop of former President Donald Trump’s decision to formally designate ANTIFA as a terrorist organization, a move critics warned could inflame domestic divisions.

The convergence of radicalized rhetoric, political polarization, and violent acts underscores the growing intersection between ideology and security threats on U.S. soil.
