Daesh militants on Tuesday said a US citizen blew himself up in an attack against the Iraqi army during an operation to retake the northern city of Tikrit, AFP reports.
“The brother Abu Dawud al-Amriki (may Allah accept him), launched himself with his explosives-laden truck against a gathering of Iraqi forces and militiamen,” a Daesh radio bulletin announced.
The same report didn’t specify the man’s identity, according to AFP.
Iraqi officials have yet to comment on the incident.
