A car bomb exploded in the commercial district of the Jordanian capital on Thursday morning, killing two people, Jordanian police said. The car exploded near the house of the chief of the Jordanian anti-terror unit, Ali Burjak. The bomb was set in his wife's car.

The victims were walking past the car when it exploded, a police officer on the scene said. One was an Egyptian worker, the other an Iraqi national.

Witnesses said a small explosion ripped through a densely populated area of Jabal Amman neighbourhood at 7.30 a.m. (0530 GMT). The bomb was set in a Toyota car in the Jebel Amman district, the police officer said.

Police cordoned off the area as security men combed the street, looking for other explosive charges and clues in the blast. (Albawaba.com)
