Arab interior ministers started arriving in Beirut on Monday to take part in their three-day annual conference slatted to start tomorrow amid tight security measures taken by Lebanon.
Lebanese interior minister Elias al-Murr ordered tight security measures around the venue of the conference, which will take place at the Phoenicia hotel in downtown Beirut.
All roads leading to the venue were sealed by the police, a matter that created an unprecedented traffic jam, even by Lebanon’s standards. The conference is seen by the Lebanese authorities as a drill for the Arab summit that Lebanon will be hosting next March, said reports.
A total of 17 Arab interior ministers are taking part in the conference. (albawaba.com)
