ALBAWABA- Turkey and Saudi Arabia have signed a mutual visa exemption agreement for holders of diplomatic and special passports, in a move aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and facilitating official travel between the two countries.

The agreement was signed by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud on the sidelines of the third meeting of the Turkish-Saudi Coordination Council.

Under the deal, visa requirements for diplomats and holders of special passports will be removed, easing travel procedures and promoting faster and more efficient official exchanges. Both sides described the agreement as a reflection of improving relations and a shared commitment to expanding cooperation.

During the talks, the two ministers also discussed broader strategic cooperation in areas including the economy, security, and investment, alongside regional developments. They reaffirmed their commitment to continued coordination to support stability across the Middle East.

The agreement comes amid a steady rapprochement between Ankara and Riyadh in recent years after a period of strained relations. Both countries have since moved to rebuild political and economic ties, with growing engagement in trade, tourism, and defence cooperation.

The Turkish-Saudi Coordination Council serves as a formal framework to advance bilateral relations, providing a platform for high-level dialogue, joint initiatives, and structured cooperation across political, economic, cultural, and security fields.
