American Journalist Injured in Bethlehem

An American journalist working with The Associated Press news agency was shot in the hip Sunday while she was covering clashes between Israeli soldiers and Palestinian demonstrators in the West Bank city of Bethlehem, reported Al-Jazira satellite channel.  

AFP said that the journalist, Yola Monakhov, worked as a photojournalist.  

Witnesses told AFP that she was shot by a bullet fired by Israeli troops. 

The TV report added that the journalist was transferred to an Israeli hospital after she refused to receive medical treatment in Beit Jala hospital in Bethlehem. 

Late last month, a correspondent for the US television network (CNN) was shot as he was covering deadly clashes between Israelis and Palestinians at the Karni crossing point between the Gaza Strip and Israel, according to AFP.
