ALBAWABA - UNICEF said Tuesday that five children were killed over the weekend in a town in the Sudanese state of South Kordofan.

"This weekend, five children were reportedly killed and three more injured in Dilling, South Kordofan," the UN children's agency posted via X.

According to local media, drone strikes carried out by the Rapid Support Forces killed about 10 people, of whom five children were killed, in addition to injuring dozens more.

South Kordofan is one of the most fiercely contested fronts in the country's war.

Sudanese Armed Forces said on Saturday it had repelled a third wave of attacks against Dilling by the RSF, inflicting "heavy human and material losses".

Fighting between the Sudanese Army and paramilitaries started in April 2023.
