Shipments of refined crude from Oman's port of Sohar are continuing, a port spokeswoman said on Monday. This comment came after widespread anti-government rallies blocked roads leading to the key industrial area in the Sultanate.
Six people died in the riots.
The port ships 160,000 barrels per day of a range of products from the Sohar refinery, Reuters said.
Oman is a non-OPEC member, pumping some 860,000 bpd of crude, which is exported through its port of Mina al-Fahal, where Oman also has a smaller refinery with a capacity of around 85,000 bpd.
The main export destinations are China and Japan. In addition, Oman has proven reserves of natural gas amounting to 30 trillion cubic feet. It produced a total of 875 billion cubic feet (Bcf) of natural gas, equal to about 2.4 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) in 2010.
