ALBAWABA - Can Yaman and Faruk Turgut's public feud reaches new dramatic heights.
The long-running dispute between Turkish Actor Can Yaman and veteran producer Faruk Turgut has taken another dramatic turn, with both men exchanging increasingly personal accusations and legal threats in a public war of words that has dominated Turkish entertainment headlines.
What began as comments made during an interview has now evolved into one of the biggest celebrity disputes in Türkiye, drawing reactions from fellow actors and generating widespread debate across social media.
Faruk Turgut responds after Can Yaman's criticism
The latest chapter began after Gold Film founder Faruk Turgut answered Can Yaman's harsh criticism with a lengthy public statement.
Turgut said he strongly condemned Yaman's remarks, describing them as unworthy of the education he received and the image he presents as an actor.
He also claimed that Yaman's previous comments about not liking Türkiye had eventually influenced his attitude toward people around him, including himself.
Although Turgut said he normally avoids responding to such language, he explained that he felt compelled to address what he described as false allegations.
Producer explains why Disney project was canceled
One of the biggest issues raised by Turgut involved a television project that had been planned for Disney.
According to the producer, he spent around ten months developing the project before deciding to cancel it because of what he described as Yaman's growing demands during the preparation process.
Turgut alleged that Yaman wanted foreign writers and directors instead of Turkish creatives and spent months encouraging the production team to consider casting his then-Italian girlfriend through her manager.
The producer said those events convinced him that continuing the partnership was no longer possible.
"I informed both you and Disney of my decision at the time," Turgut stated.
"I didn't receive the money you claim"
Turgut also rejected Yaman's previous allegations that he accepted money to release the actor from the project.
He insisted that no such payment was ever made.
The producer questioned why Yaman agreed to star in Bay Yanlış after Erkenci Kuş if their relationship had been as problematic as the actor now claims.
He also addressed Yaman's accusations regarding unpaid overseas revenues.
"You are a lawyer," Turgut wrote. "If I failed to pay what your contract entitled you to, why didn't you ever take legal action?"
The producer insisted that he has always honored his commitments and built his professional reputation over more than four decades.
Legal warning
Turgut concluded his statement by making it clear that he intends to pursue legal action.
He announced that he would hand the matter over to the courts, saying the dispute had gone beyond acceptable public criticism.
His legal warning immediately became one of the most discussed aspects of the controversy.
Can Yaman fires back again
Can Yaman responded only hours later with another lengthy social media statement.
The actor dismissed Turgut's comments and urged him to move on.
"Faruk, it's been six years since I last saw you. Go mind your own business. I'm where I am, and you stay where you are," Yaman wrote.
He then accused the producer of having an "advanced illness," adding that Turgut should see a doctor before worrying about him.
"Actors have demands"
Yaman also defended actors' involvement in creative decisions.
He argued that performers naturally possess career goals, professional opinions, and expectations, and that those requests should not be automatically labeled as unreasonable demands.
According to Yaman, managers exist specifically to communicate actors' expectations during negotiations.
He claimed Turgut misunderstood the modern entertainment business and suggested the producer lacked the vision needed to work with major stars.
"It wasn't you who couldn't work with me," Yaman wrote. "It was me who couldn't work with you and decided to leave."
Responding to legal threats
The actor also mocked Turgut's decision to threaten legal action.
According to Yaman, people often make strong public statements but immediately turn to the courts when someone answers back.
He insisted Turgut was free to file a lawsuit but repeated that the producer should first seek medical help.
Yaman further criticized Turgut personally, claiming the producer had no right to comment on his lifestyle or international career.
He contended that his own global success is self-evident and implied that Turgut could never have followed the same career trajectory.
Barış Kılıç enters the discussion
The dispute widened after actor Barış Kılıç, who stars as Ömer in Kızılcık Şerbeti (Cranberry Sorbet), publicly expressed support for Faruk Turgut.
His backing quickly attracted attention across Turkish social media, where fans debated whether fellow actors should become involved in the conflict.
Can Yaman did not remain silent.
He published another message criticizing actors who support producers.
"Now actors who support producers for a few pennies will appear," he wrote.
Yaman claimed that some people he once believed to be honest had ultimately disappointed him.
He ended the post by saying those criticizing him were insignificant from his perspective.
A long-standing feud

Can Yaman and Faruk Turgut first worked together on Erkenci Kuş (Early Bird), the internationally successful romantic comedy that aired between 2018 and 2019 and helped turn Yaman into a global television star.
The actor later reunited with Gold Film for Bay Yanlış (Mr. Wrong) before relocating to Italy to focus on an international career.
For years, Turkish media have reported tensions between the two following the end of their professional relationship. However, the disagreement has never before reached this level of public confrontation.
The latest exchange has dominated entertainment headlines in Türkiye, with social media users closely following every new statement from both sides.
Despite the increasingly personal accusations, neither party has independently verified any of the financial or behind-the-scenes allegations, and the dispute now seems likely to continue through legal channels if Turgut proceeds with the announced court action.
