Egyptian actor Ahmed Bedeir is currently shooting his role in the drama Al Khuyoul (Horses), which is scripted by Medhat Yousef, directed by Ibrahim Affifi, and costars Shireen, Zizi Al Badrawi and Najwa Fuad, according to the Arabic daily Al Sharq Al Awsat.
Bedeir plays the role of Rabie Al Sawi, the son of a horse groom who develops psychological problems after his father is killed in front of his eyes during a big ceremony held by the Pasha on his daughter Reem’s birthday (played by Shireen).
After the incident, Rabie becomes divided between thoughts of revenge and his silent love of the Pasha’s daughter, but he decides to leave the country.
After Rabie becomes a millionaire, he changes his name to Shawkat Saqer and returns home. Aided by wealth and elegance, he tries to make the Pasha’s daughter fall in love with him. Many surprises and contradictions pop up, until at last both of them discover the other, but only after Rabie achieves his wish of marrying Reem.
This socio-political drama depicts the life of a number of men who were heroes in the October War. After many years, due to the social and economic changes in society, these men change their careers and make their way as businessmen. But all except for few of them maintain their morals and principles.
Bedeir's role may remind his Arab and Egyptian audiences of the similar role played by Yahya Shahin in the film Al Gharib (Strange) in 1956. Shahin’s film was directed by Kamal Al Sheikh and Fateen Abdel Wahab, and costarred Magdah, Kamal Al Shinnawi, Hussein Riyad and Mohsen Sarhan -- Albawaba.com
