Al-Rai newspaper reported that a pet monkey was rescued from its owner for being addicted to drugs in Kuwait.

The monkey's owner got into a car accident and police noticed that the pet was behaving strangely. Police took the monkey in for testing and discovered a large quantity of drugs in its bloodstream.

Upon interrogation, the owner revealed that he had been giving the monkey drugs in increasing quantities, so that they could "take drugs together and have fun."

Police turned the monkey over to the Authority of Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources to be detoxed. The authority is in contact with the Indonesian embassy to safely transport the monkey back to its country of origin.

Police did not release a statement on whether or not they will charge the owner with drug usage and animal cruelty.
