Tamkeen and twofour54’s highly specialised media skills training courses commence in Bahrain

twofour54, the commercial arm of the Media Zone Authority-Abu Dhabi and Tamkeen have commenced their media skills training programme offering highly specialised courses to Bahrain’s next generation of media professionals. The courses offered through twofour54 tadreeb - twofour54’s centre of excellence for media skills training - are part of a strategic media skills training agreement which twofour54 and Tamkeen entered into last June.  

The strategic partnership aims to develop the capabilities of Bahrain’s human capital, in-line with labour market requirements, by offering courses to Bahraini nationals who wish to upskill or acquire the new skills required to succeed in the media industry.

The two courses which have just commenced are in Public Relations and Graphic Design and each are well-subscribed.  The lengths of the training courses range from six weeks in the field of Public Relations to six months in Graphic Design. The Graphic Design course includes two months of practical work under the supervision of highly qualified instructors.

Tamkeen’s Acting Vice President for Human Capital Development, Mrs. Amal Al Kooheji said:

Courses such as these will be pivotal in developing Bahrain’s media talents in-line with labour market needs. The courses ultimately support the sustainable growth of the country’s media sector and national economy at large.”

The Public Relations programme provides an overall understanding of the profession. It includes practical elements on how to spot a news angle and develop a story for example.  Different methods for identifying key messages and communicating them with the public will be explored and applied.

The Graphic Design training programme will focus on design principles and stylistic concepts to visually communicate a message. It covers layout techniques for various media. Students learn how to conceive, design and implement their creative ideas using industry-standard software.
