Dubai Culture’s ‘Higher Advisory Committee’ convenes for first meeting
The ‘Higher Advisory Committee’ of the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Emirate’s dedicated Authority for culture, arts, and heritage, convened for its first meeting to drive forward the city’s creative and cultural strategy.
Launched by His Highness Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, the ‘Higher Advisory Committee draws on the collective expertise of veterans to play an integral role in spearheading the growth of the city’s cultural scene. The Committee will work to support the Dubai Tourism Vision 2020 announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, by focusing on the cultural aspects of the city, and thereby catering to tourists interested in arts and culture.
Headed by Her Highness Sheikha Latifa Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice Chairman of the Emirates Literature Foundation, the meeting saw attendance by: Mr Marwan bin Beyat, Director General of the Private office of His Highness Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, committee members including: Mr. Jamal Khalfan Bin Huwaireb, Managing Director of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Foundation (MBRF); Mr. Dhaen Mohammed Shaheen, Director General of Publishing, Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI), and Executive Director and Chief Editor of Al Bayan newspaper; Mr. Abdulhamid Mohammed Juma, Chairman of the Dubai International Film Festival and Gulf Film Festival; Mr. Ahmed Bin Essa Al Serkal, Chairman of Al Serkal Group; and Dr. Salah Al Qassim, Advisor to Dubai Culture and in his capacity as the General Coordinator; and Dr. Hessa Bin Masood, Strategic Manager of the Authority.
After extending the greetings of His Highness Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum to the inaugural Higher Advisory Committee meeting, Her Highness Sheikha Latifa provided the members and guests an overview of the Committee, its vision, and the goals that it must achieve to energise the growth of Dubai’s cultural and artistic industry.
The Committee will focus on three key initiatives in the coming months including the implementation of the ‘Smart Government’ initiative; the Dubai Heritage & Touristic Season; and the city’s upcoming art season.
