Over 100 Dubai Cares volunteers support Al Ahliya Charity School in Dubai

Today, over 100 volunteers joined Dubai Cares’ “Volunteer Emirates” initiative to support Al Ahliya Charity School in Dubai, assembling 1,000 chairs and desks and installing new sports equipment for the school’s students.

Dubai Cares engages residents here at home to support its efforts globally to provide access to quality primary education for children in developing countries, and organizes a series of local initiatives that offer UAE residents opportunities to give back to communities here at home.

Commenting on today’s event, Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Cares, said: “Inspired by the philanthropic efforts of our founding fathers and leaders, UAE residents harness a very strong spirit of charitable giving and volunteerism, and the response that our local initiatives continue to receive is evidence of this spirit. The UAE in general is very responsive to any philanthropic causes. Volunteer Emirates is one such initiative that UAE residents are always happy to participate in to make a difference for students in the UAE.” 

Dr. Kamal Farhat, General Manager, National Charity Schools said, “I would like to thank Dubai Cares for their Volunteer Emirates initiative which serves the UAE community in general and specifically the National Charity School in Dubai. This initiative will leave a lasting impression on the lives of the children, and provide a conducive learning environment within our school. In May 2012, over 100 Dubai Cares volunteers helped improve the learning environment at His Highness Shaikh Rashid Pakistani School in Dubai, where they installed 630 chairs and desks, 21 whiteboards, 15 bookshelves and 10 air-conditioners; painted over 50 classrooms; and provided educational toys for 135 students.
