Dutchman Pim Verbeek was on Tuesday officially appointed by the Oman Football Association (OFA) as the new head coach of the senior national team during a press meet at the Seeb Sports Stadium.

Verbeek will take charge of the Oman team at the start of 2017. The Dutch coach arrived in Muscat earlier this week and had been in talks with the OFA officials regarding the terms of his contract.

In the weeks leading up to Tuesday's announcement, Muscat Daily had first reported that Verbeek was set to take over as Oman's head coach.
